Snapcycle Eagle Electric Bike Review

Snapcycle Eagle Electric Bike Review

The Snapcycle Eagle is an affordable electric bike priced under $1500. In this review, we'll take a close look at the Eagle's power, speed, range, and comfort to see how it stacks up to competitors.

Motor and Power

The Eagle is equipped with a 750W motor that delivers 85Nm of torque. This gives it plenty of power to climb steep hills and accelerate quickly. In testing, the Eagle was able to climb a long 26% grade hill by itself with no pedaling required.

The motor engages immediately from a standstill but has a slight 1-2 second delay when re-engaging after coasting. There is a cruise control feature that kicks in after maintaining speed for 4-5 seconds.

Speed and Range

On the highest pedal assist level, the Eagle tops out at 26mph. The top speed makes it ideal for daily commuting and recreational rides. In range testing at an average speed of 25mph, the Eagle achieved 20.6 miles per charge with over 1700 feet of elevation gain.

The battery maintains power through the majority of the discharge, only losing top speed in the final 10% of battery capacity. Snapcycle claims up to 45 miles of range with more moderate riding.

Comfort and Components

The Eagle features front suspension with lockout and rear suspension to smooth out bumps. The CST 20" x 4" all-terrain tires add cushion as well. However, the grips and saddle are basic cheap components.

One notable downside is the handlebar position cannot be raised more than 4 inches, which may force taller riders into an uncomfortably aggressive position.

Braking is handled by Tektro hydraulic disc brakes that provide strong, smooth stopping power. A 7-speed Shimano drivetrain gives a good range of gears for varied terrain.

Ideal Uses

With its powerful motor and quality suspension, the Snapcycle Eagle performs well off-road on dirt paths and gravel trails. The Eagle is best suited for commuting, leisure rides, and moderate trail riding.
