Bandit X-Trail Lite Electric Bike Review

Bandit X-Trail Lite Electric Bike Review

The Bandit X-Trail Lite is an innovative electric bike that pushes the envelope with unique features. In our test ride and review, we found it has excellent power, range, and suspension.

Highlights

  • Dual 750W motors provide speeds up to 27 mph
  • Massive rear suspension smooths out bumps and jumps
  • Torque and speed modes change power delivery
  • Up to 20 miles of range on a charge
  • BMX-style rims add stability and handling

Performance and Range

With the bike set to speed mode, we hit a top speed of 27 mph in the highest pedal assist level. Switching to torque mode didn't change the top speed. Using just the throttle without pedaling topped out at 20 mph.

Acceleration felt a bit quicker in torque mode. The motors react instantly when pedaling or using the throttle. Power comes on after just a quarter turn of the pedals.

In our range test at 25 mph average speed, we rode for 19.44 miles with 1575 feet of elevation gain. For an e-bike under $1500, this range is impressive. The battery provides full power until it drops to around 8% charge.

Suspension and Handling

The X-Trail Lite has a highly effective dual rear spring suspension. It soaks up bumps and jumps even when riding off curbs and trails. This is the best rear suspension we've seen on a bike of this type.

The longer wheelbase and BMX-style rims provide great stability and handling. The bike is very easy to ride hands-free. Cornering feels nimble thanks to the lower weight over the wheels.

Drawbacks

The brakes could be improved. They make some noise when applied. The large saddle can rub inner thighs when pedaling unless you scoot forward.

Other Features

  • NFC unlocking capability
  • Rear rack holds up to 55 lbs
  • Leather grips and aluminum fenders
  • Available in 3 colors

With its innovative design and performance, the Bandit X-Trail Lite stands out as a top electric bike choice under $1500.
