Lightweight Carbon Fiber Frame

Starting with the most noticeable feature, the Rundeer Starry Sky 3K features a full carbon fiber frame. Weighing in at just 40 pounds total, this is an exceptionally lightweight frame for a full-size electric bike.

The carbon fiber construction not only cuts down on weight, but also provides inherent shock absorption for a smooth ride quality. The geometry lends itself to an aggressive, road bike-like riding position.

Matching the high-end frame is a techy design with integrated LCD display and control pad built right into the frame. This gives it a very modern and sleek aesthetic.

High-End Cockpit Components

The carbon frame isn't the only high-end component. The cockpit features quality ergonomic grips, thumb shifters and a control pad to navigate the on-board electronics.

A bright LED headlight is integrated into the front. And the saddle has ample cushioning and shock absorption. All of the contact points feel premium.

Torque Sensor and Throttle

The Rundeer Starry Sky 3K delivers power through a torque sensor and throttle control. The torque sensor provides seamless pedal assist, with no lag as you start pedaling.

The throttle gives you full power on demand with a twist of the grip. Both provide an instant surge of acceleration when called upon.

Dual Suspension for Off-Road Handling

While the lightweight frame provides some shock absorption, the Rundeer Starry Sky 3K also features front suspension on the fork and rear suspension near the motor. This gives it the ability to soak up bumps and maintain traction off-road.

We found it handled green and blue level mountain bike trails quite well. The suspension smooths out roots, rocks and other obstacles when riding on dirt.

4 Piston Hydraulic Disc Brakes

Bringing this ebike to a stop are 4 piston hydraulic disc brakes. These provide exceptional stopping power from high speeds. The discs are large in diameter for maximum leverage.

Having high performance brakes is important for the high top speeds this ebike can reach. They give you confidence to brake hard when needed.

Range and Hill Climbing Ability

In terms of range, we averaged around 25 miles per charge riding at an average pace of 20 MPH. Total elevation gain was around 1,200 feet over the terrain we rode during testing.

Considering the high power output and speed, the range is decent but not exceptional. Other ebikes in this price range often have larger battery capacities.

Hill climbing ability was mediocre. Steep hills at grades over 20% required significant rider effort. Again, the smaller battery pack seems to limit the sustained power on inclines.
