Apollo City Pro 2023 Review
If you're looking for a comfortable and powerful electric scooter for your daily commute, look no further than the Apollo City Pro.
Apollo is a leading name in the electric scooter space, with the Apollo Ghost being one of the most popular models in the market today. But their newest model, the Apollo City Pro, takes things to the next level.
The Apollo City Pro has two options when it comes to power and speed. The City, which is the smaller brother to the Pro, has one 500-watt motor with a top speed of around 27 miles per hour and costs $300 less than the City Pro. The City Pro, on the other hand, has dual motors and a top speed of 32 miles per hour. During a test, the rider reached a speed of 28-29 miles per hour with a weight of 185 pounds.
One thing worth mentioning is the ability to limit the speed through the app. The rider had the option to set the cruise control, which kicks in after about two seconds, but hitting the levers does not disengage it. You have to hit the regen break or tap the throttle to get rid of it.
The Apollo City Pro has two acceleration options that you can change in the app from levels 1 to 10, which will change how quickly the scooter accelerates from a standstill. The rider noted that there's a small delay when setting it to level one, but once the motor kicks in, it quickly makes up for lost time off the line.
The climbing power of most scooters in this price range can tackle a 15-grade hill at about 15 miles per hour. With a full charge and the highest speed mode, the Apollo City Pro was able to climb a steep hill, albeit a little slowly.
One of the standout features of the Apollo City Pro is its braking system. It has two standard brake levers that are hooked up to drum brakes, which give the quickest stopping power of around 15 feet from going 21 miles per hour. The individual regen brake is smooth and powerful enough, where the rider didn't have to use the levers. You can change the strength of the Regens in the app from levels 1 to 10.
The Apollo City Pro is also foldable and doesn't weigh that much, only 65 pounds. It can carry a rider up to 265 pounds. Its geometry is designed for balance, with a high deck and handlebar height that is nice and high. It has a sturdy build, with zero stem wobble even at almost 30 miles per hour.
In terms of range, the Apollo City Pro is not bad, with an average of 21 miles per hour in 38-degree weather with about a handful of stops. In warmer weather, it's estimated that you could hit around 30 miles.
Overall, the Apollo City Pro is a solid electric scooter that offers power, comfort, and convenience. It may be priced higher than some other models, but it offers features that make it worth the investment. Its powerful motor, sturdy build, and smooth braking system make it a great option for commuters who want to get around quickly and safely. If you're in the market for an electric scooter, the Apollo City Pro is definitely worth considering.
